Question 1

What are poppers?

Accepted Answer

Poppers is the everyday name for a group of liquid chemicals called alkyl nitrites — most commonly isopropyl nitrite, amyl nitrite, or pentyl nitrite. They are sold in small bottles as room aromas. The name comes from the original 1960s glass capsules that popped when crushed; modern bottles use a screw cap. Brands like Liquid Gold, Rush, Berlin XXX, and Amsterdam have been on the UK market for decades. Our products are sold strictly as room aromas and are not intended for human consumption.

Question 2

Are poppers legal in the UK?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Poppers are legal to buy, sell, and possess in the UK. They are not classified as a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) confirmed in 2016, and again in their formal review published on GOV.UK in May 2024, that alkyl nitrites do not directly affect the central nervous system — meaning they fall outside the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016. There has never been a successful prosecution of a poppers seller under the PSA. To stay compliant with UK product safety law, all poppers in the UK are sold as room aromas, leather cleaners, or video head cleaners.

Question 3

Where can I buy poppers in the UK?

Accepted Answer

Online. Specialist shops like AromaRoma stock the full range of UK and European brands at prices well below high-street retailers. Some adult shops in Soho, Manchester, Birmingham and Brighton still carry poppers, but the selection is limited and prices typically run 30 to 50 percent higher than online. Supermarkets, pharmacies, and Amazon UK do not sell poppers. We ship across the entire UK in plain packaging from £3.99.

Question 4

Can I buy poppers on Amazon UK?

Accepted Answer

No. Amazon UK does not list poppers. Their Restricted Products policy excludes alkyl nitrites and similar room aroma products. The only way to buy them online in the UK is through specialist retailers — that is what we do at AromaRoma. We have been running since 2015 and ship UK-wide with same-day dispatch on orders before 2pm.

Question 5

What is Liquid Gold?

Accepted Answer

Liquid Gold is one of the original UK room aroma brands. It uses an isopropyl nitrite formula in a 10ml or 15ml gold-capped bottle and has been on the British market since the 1980s. It is typically the first brand most UK customers buy because it is affordable, widely recognised, and made to a consistent standard. We stock the original 10ml at £4.99 and the XL 15ml multipack.

Question 6

What is the difference between isopropyl, pentyl, and amyl poppers?

Accepted Answer

These are the three main types of alkyl nitrite sold in the UK as room aromas. Isopropyl nitrite is the standard UK formula and the most widely available — found in Liquid Gold, Amsterdam, and Rush, with a strong distinctive scent. Pentyl nitrite is considered the strongest formula legally available in the UK, found in Bears Own, Berlin XXX Pentyl, and other premium brands; smoother and longer-lasting than isopropyl. Amyl nitrite is the original 1960s formula, harder to source legally in the UK today and often confused with pentyl. Butyl nitrite is restricted from sale in the UK and we do not stock it.

Question 7

What are the strongest poppers available in the UK?

Accepted Answer

Pentyl-based poppers are generally rated the strongest legally available in the UK. Our Bears Own range, Berlin XXX Pentyl, and Jack Hammer XXX are consistently the highest-rated by our customers for intensity. If you are new to poppers, we suggest starting with an isopropyl 10ml such as Liquid Gold or Amsterdam before moving to a pentyl 25ml.

Question 8

How should I store poppers?

Accepted Answer

Cold and dark. The fridge is ideal; the freezer is even better for long-term storage. Always keep the cap tightly closed when not in use — alkyl nitrites are volatile and lose potency once exposed to air. An unopened bottle stored correctly stays at full strength for 6 to 12 months. Once opened, use within 3 to 4 weeks. Keep them away from direct sunlight, heat, and open flame — they are flammable.

Question 9

Are poppers safe?

Accepted Answer

When used correctly as a room aroma, poppers have a long safety record. They have been on the UK market for over 60 years. However, they are not suitable for everyone. Do not use poppers if you have a heart condition, low blood pressure, glaucoma, or anaemia. Do not use them if you are taking erectile dysfunction medication such as Viagra or Cialis — the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You must be 18 or older to buy or use poppers in the UK. Never swallow the liquid — it is highly toxic if ingested. This is general information, not medical advice — consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Question 10

How long does a bottle of poppers last?

Accepted Answer

Depends on size and use. A 10ml bottle typically lasts a single user 1 to 3 weeks of regular use. A 25ml bottle can last 4 to 8 weeks. Once opened, the formula gradually weakens with air exposure — most users notice a drop in strength after 3 to 4 weeks. Buying smaller bottles more often keeps the experience fresher than buying one large bottle and stretching it.

Question 11

Is delivery discreet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every order ships in plain padded envelopes or unbranded boxes. The sender on the label is not AromaRoma — it shows a neutral business name. Nothing on the outside indicates the contents. Card statements show as a discreet trading name, not the website.

Question 12

Do you offer next day delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Orders placed before 2pm Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day via Royal Mail Tracked 24 or DPD. Most UK addresses receive their order the next working day. Standard tracked delivery is £3.95, free on orders over £30.
